Weller WXHotAir

Precision Hot-Air Rework Module for demanding Electronic Assemblies

Weller is expanding its rework portfolio with a high-performance hot-air module delivering up to 900 watts, featuring flexible vacuum handling and software-supported process control. With the new WXHotAir, Weller offers a high-performance and versatile solution for demanding rework applications. Up to 900 watts of precisely controlled hot air, two vacuum options and monitoring via two external thermocouples ensure stable, safe and reproducible processes.

With a stable rated power of 800 watts and a peak power of up to 900 watts, the new Weller WXHotAir module has been specifically designed for professional use in rework and repair, development and production. Stable and precise thermal power transfer across a wide temperature range of 50–600 °C ensures profile-compliant operation for a wide range of applications.

Three setups for different rework requirements
The WXHotAir’s scalable design can be flexibly adapted to different manufacturing environments:

Standalone operation
For simple and repetitive hot-air tasks, the WXHotAir can be operated independently with a fixed temperature and air flow rate, or using three pre-configurable presets.

PC software
The free Windows software allows you to create, expand and archive custom profiles according to your requirements. In addition, the programme provides a graphical live display of temperatures, sensor tracking and role-based user management (Admin/Operator).

WXsmart Platform Integration
The WXHotAir module can be expanded into a compact, stackable 3-channel rework workstation (hot air plus two soldering or desoldering tools), with full traceability certification for audit-relevant manufacturing processes.

Dual-function hot-air nozzles
The WXHotAir’s dual-function nozzle design combines an optimised, stable airflow with integrated component preheating. This enables controlled heat input during rework and reduces thermal stress on the component. Airflow-optimised openings direct the hot air straight onto the pins. Thanks to the station’s high output power of up to 900 watts, rapid heat dissipation is reliably compensated for in printed circuit boards with a high copper content and high thermal mass.

For the precise removal of components after reflow, the WX HotAir offers two vacuum options: the hot-air handpiece picks up the component via an integrated vacuum immediately after the solder has melted, without the need for additional accessories. Alternatively, the station operates tools such as the WVP vacuum pipette or the WRK reflow set via the external vacuum.

Temperature monitoring, teach-in mode and active overheating protection provide even greater process reliability; they effectively protect sensitive components from thermal damage and destruction.
